Can The NHS Be Fixed or Saved – How Can WE Save The NHS
.
YES IT CAN BE FIXED
.

NHS Hospitals were built in 1948 for 50 million people – Today in the UK there are 68 million people… With more complex needs.
This was the Manchester Children’s Hospital entrance hall – Now the land has been used for a new housing estate.
- In the 1970s there were 420,000 Beds in the UK
- In the 1980’s there were 300,000 Beds in the UK
- In the 2020’s there are 141,000 Beds in the UK
HOW Can The NHS Be Fixed or Saved:- Yes It Can. NHS people need to look outside the box – To look outside the 4 walls of the NHS Institution.. SO, Let’s make simple changes happen and reduce costs as well.
.
THE PROBLEMS:
.
1.1 LACK OF BEDS & BOTTLENECKS – Governments closing Hospitals to cut costs
1.2 Nurses, doctors, managers must spend 50% of their day talking about “where to find a bed”
1.3 The NHS TREADMILL:- Nurses, doctors, managers are just working on a treadmill… day after day.…
1.4 Many People In The NHS Have NOT Worked Anywhere Else – So Don’t Have “OUT-OF-BOX” Ideas
1.5 Too Many desk bound ‘Middle Managers’ who just talk day after day – to think of “OUT-OF-BOX” Ideas
1.6 Too Many “Think Tanks and Quango’s” Who have ‘probably’ not done a proper days work in their life
1.7 Hospitals are JUST 4 WALLS – TOO MANY PEOPLE IN ONE PLACE – people will get in each others way
1.8 People get ill 24 hours per day. 7 days per week – How many hours do the NHS services run ?
.
IDEAS IN THE COMMUNITY:
.
2.1 BUILD IN THE COMMUNITY – NHS & SOCIAL SERVICES CENTRES
WE NEED:-
- LOCAL NHS HUBS:-> JOIN GPs – Chemists – Minor A&E – Social Services “A NHS ONE STOP SHOP”
- LOCAL COMMUNITY HUBS:-> Advice Centres – Charities – Food Banks – Job Search “ONE STOP SHOP”
These Local Hubs could be in converted shops, pubs or in a mobile unit, thus keeping costs down…
.
.
2.2 BRING THE SOCIAL CARE SERVICES TO THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY
Social Carers spend all day driving to see people in their home, maybe 4-8 people per day
- LOCAL HUBS:- For “Social Care Service offices” – “ONE STOP SHOP” Open For All
- Able Bodied People could go to the LOCAL HUB. Social Services could see 16 – 21 people per day
Social Care Service Costs would be drastically cut – less care workers driving from person to person
IDEAS AT HOSPITALS:
.
3.1 Process “MINOR” A&E CASES IN A “Stand-alone PORTACABIN“
- Minor A&E or Frailty Units for older people could be seen in a PORTACABIN away from the main hospital
- Portacabins, are “Factory Built” Built in a short time in comparison to brick built and much cheaper…
- Portacabins, are “Factory Built” Can be built by semi-skilled or unskilled people
.
3.2 Process “MAJOR” A&E Cases Direct into the Hospital (front door)
- Major issues, accidents and ambulance cases should go through the (front door)
.
3.3 Discharge Patients from A “Stand-alone PORTACABIN Discharge Suit” (back door)
- Discharging people could be done via a ‘discharge suit’ in a PORTACABIN away from the main hospital
- Discharging people from outside the main hospital will eliminate bottlenecks & reduce NHS costs

.

- 5.1 A vision without action is just a day dream…
- 5.2 Action without a vision just passes the “time of day”…
- 5.3 A vision with action will turn a problem into cash-in-the-bank…
